ESR wishes to announce the next European Diploma in Radiology examinations, which will take place at the
Annual Congress of the "Sociedad Espanola de Radiologia Médica (SERAM)" in Granada / SPAIN on May 24, 2012 and
during the "Oncologic Imaging Course (OIC 2012)" in Dubrovnik / CROATIA on June 30, 2012.
Success in the examination will certify a standard of radiological knowledge deemed appropriate by the ESR for independent practise in General Radiology. The knowledge base for the examination is as laid out in the
The examination is open to radiologists and radiology residents in compliance with the requirements (eligibility criteria can be found on the site of the application: Examination at SERAM in Granada / Spain on May 24, 2012 and Examination at OIC 2012 in Dubrovnik / Croatia on June 30, 2012 )
Diploma certificates will be handed out at the time when:
- Candidates are fully licensed and in active practice as trained radiologists. (ESR full membership or corresponding membership required)
- Radiology training with a minimum duration of 5 years in a nationally accredited programme is completed. In cases where the relevant training programme is less than 5 years duration, credit for years as supervised staff radiologists will be considered. (total of training and supervised practice years must be 5 years or more).

- In the context of medical migration, this examination will facilitate procedures by providing an ESR-endorsed qualification to confirm proof of training supplemental to any national qualifications.

- The Diploma certifies that a candidate has passed a high quality examination in General Radiology performed in English language.

Non-European members
We are pleased to announce that the ESR Diploma examination programme is now also available for corresponding members. Eligibility criteria are the same as for full members. Further details concerning required documentation you will find here .
Residents
We are pleased to announce that also radiology residents are allowed to sit the ESR Diploma examination under specific conditions. The Diploma certificate will only be awarded after completion of training and providing a proof of licence to practise radiology.
Fees
- The fee for the European Diploma examination for full members and members in training is € 400.
- The fee for the European Diploma examination for corresponding members is € 1,000
UEMS Endorsement
The ESR European Diploma in Radiology (EDiR) is officially and fully endorsed by the UEMS (European Union of Medical Specialists, www.uems.net).
