EURATOM Recast

The European Commission is in the process of recasting 5 Council Directives, with the aim of merging them into one while keeping as much of the present text as possible:

Basic Safety Standards, Directive 96/29/Euratom

Medical Exposures, Directive 97/43/Euratom

Public Information, Directive 89/618/Euratom

Outside Workers, Directive 90/641/Euratom

High Activity Sources, Directive 03/122/Euratom

Art. 31 Group of Experts has currently published its opinion on the revised basic safety standards for the protection of the health of workers and the general public against the dangers arising from ionising radiation and concludes that the reacast achieved its objectives.
Opinion of the Art. 31 Group of Experts

The ESR is eager to contribute to the recast process, although at the moment no consultation process has been announced for the medical chapters.
