Start your future now with the ESR Research Seed Grant

Together with the European Institute for Biomedical Imaging Research (EIBIR), the ESR has launched a new seed funding programme for innovative one-year projects and pilot studies on AI or cardiac imaging.

The purpose of the programme is to stimulate and provide finding for ambitious projects that will subsequently lead to larger studies and further funding applications. Seed grants may amount to €4,000-8,000 for a period of 12 months.

Up to 10 projects will be funded in 2020. The recipients will be announced at ECR 2020. Application Deadline: January 15, 2020

ESR Past-President, Prof. Bernd Hamm receives Honorary Membership of the Radiological Society of North America

The ESR is pleased to report that our Past-President and a previous Chairman of the ESR Board of Directors, Prof. Bernd Hamm has received Honorary Membership of the RSNA. Prof. Hamm was handed the award at an awards ceremony which took place during the RSNA's 105th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting, hosted in Chicago, IL on 02 December 2019.

The European Society of Radiology welcomes healthcare push on the EU policy agenda

The European Society of Radiology (ESR) warmly welcomes the ambition of Commission President-elect Ursula von der Leyen, a medical doctor herself, to push forward healthcare in the EU policy agenda by appointing a Commissioner for Health with a strong mandate and increased attributions. Stella Kyriakides, a health expert and a long-standing advocate for health prevention, was nominated for the post with a clear mandate to promote public health and deepen collaboration on pressing health challenges in the European Union.

European Society of Radiology

Founded in 2005, by merging the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) and the European Association of Radiology (EAR), the European Society of Radiology (ESR) is an apolitical, non-profit organisation dedicated to strengthening and unifying European radiology.

With 121,608 members across the globe, it has grown to become the largest radiological society in the world and hosts one of the biggest and most innovative scientific meetings in Europe, the European Congress of Radiology, in Vienna each year.

The Society works closely with national radiological societies across Europe and further afield, while establishing relationships with major international organisations from other related fields. It also monitors developments on the EU level which could have an impact on research and practice in radiology, with the best interests of the patient as its overriding goal.

The mission of the European Society of Radiology is to serve the healthcare needs of the general public by supporting scientific research, education and training while constantly striving to improve the quality of radiological practice.
