2024 Impact Factors Confirm Continued Excellence of ESR Journals

The European Society of Radiology (ESR) is pleased to announce the 2024 Journal Impact Factors (IF) for its journals. All three ESR journals European Radiology, Insights into Imaging, and European Radiology Experimental, remain firmly positioned within the first quartile (Q1) of their category, Radiology, Nuclear Medicine & Medical Imaging.

These results reflect the continued excellence, scientific value, and editorial strength of the ESR’s publishing portfolio:

European Radiology achieved an Impact Factor of 4.7, continuing its lead as the ESR’s flagship journal.

Insights into Imaging reached an IF of 4.5, further reinforcing its role as a prominent journal in radiology education and clinical practice.

European Radiology Experimental recorded an IF of 3.6, marking its third consecutive year in Q1 since receiving its first IF.

“This marks the third consecutive year that all three ESR journals are positioned within the Q1 of their category which is an impressive and encouraging achievement,” said Prof. Ferdia Gallagher, Chair of the ESR Publications Committee. “It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire editorial community,” said Prof. Bernd Hamm, Chief Editor of the ESR Journal Family and Editor-in-Chief of European Radiology. “I would particularly like to congratulate Dr. Paola Clauser, Prof. Francesco Sardanelli, and Prof. Luis Martí-Bonmatí, Emeritus Editor of Insights into Imaging, for their exceptional leadership, and thank all our editors, reviewers, authors, and readers for their ongoing contributions. Together, we are sustaining the strength and reputation of our journals across the field.”

The ESR extends its sincere gratitude to the entire scientific community for its unwavering support. Through collaborative efforts, the society remains committed to advancing scientific publishing in radiology and maintaining the excellence of its journals.
