September 2017

As part of the practical arrangement between the European Society of Radiology (ESR) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), 12 participants sponsored by the ESR and the IAEA participated in the European School of Radiology (ESOR) Asklepios Course ‘Introduction to Hybrid Imaging in Oncology’, organised in cooperation with the European Society for Hybrid Medical Imaging (ESHI) from August 31-September 1 in Vienna, Austria.

The participation of radiologists from IAEA members states was organised together with the IAEA's Nuclear Medicine and Diagnostic Imaging (NMDI) Section. Under the umbrella of the practical arrangement signed between the IAEA and the ESR on February 28, 2017, the organisations cooperate on issues related to capacity building and education, with a primary focus on low and middle income countries.

EuroSafe Imaging-IAEA RPOP webinar

On August 29, 2017, a webinar on 'Tips and tricks in CT' jointly organised by the IAEA's Radiation Protection of Patients Unit and the ESR's EuroSafe Imaging campaign was held. The webinar familiarised well over 300 participants with aspects of CT imaging essential for patient safety, including correct patient positioning, exposure parameter selection and limitation of scan length.

The ESR would like to express its thanks to the RPOP Unit and all participants in making this webinar a success.

A recording of the webinar is available here.
