EU Health Policy Platform - Thematic network on medical training and professional development for patient safety

The European Society of Radiology (ESR) presented the joint stakeholder statement on medical training and professional development for patient safety at the annual Health Policy Platform meeting on November 27.

The joint statement calls on stakeholders and EU institutions to improve education, training and continuing professional development for the European health workforce by utilising digital tools and better embedding IT skills, establishing patient safety and empowerment as cross-cutting issues, fostering interpersonal and intercultural skills of healthcare professionals, and aligning standards for medical curricula and CPD.

Already endorsed by 19 organisations, the support for the joint statement demonstrates that the issue of education for all professionals involved in healthcare is an important priority, and ties in with European Commission priorities in the areas of eHealth and the digital single market strategy, as well as cross-border healthcare.
