A fully packed Best of ECR programme has now been finalised for the 48th Brazilian Congress of Radiology (CBR 2019) which takes place in Fortaleza on October 10-12, 2019. The initiative, which will debut for the first time at CBR, will feature a diverse range of speakers bringing their lectures from the European Congress of Radiology to a new setting. It is the result of efforts by the European Society of Radiology (ESR) to bring the most innovative and groundbreaking elements of Europe’s largest radiological congress to a wider audience outside of Europe.
Featuring 10 of the best speakers from ECR, the Best of ECR programme will see experts sharing their experience with those CBR attendees who were unable to attend ECR in person. The programme will have a total of six scientific sessions, featuring state-of-the-art talks on Chest, MSK, GI/GU and Breast imaging. Special highlights will include a talk from Prof. Wiro Niessen from Rotterdam/NL on the ‘Challenges and opportunities of Artificial Intelligence in radiology’ and another from Prof. Andrea Rockall from London/UK on ‘Recent updates in Gadolinium contrast media’. Furthermore, ESR President, Prof. Boris Brkljačić from Zagreb/HR, will give an exclusive lecture on the ‘History and Partnership’ between ESR and CBR during the congress Opening Ceremony which is not to be missed.
The decision to debut the Best of ECR tour in Brazil arose from growing collaboration efforts between the ESR and the Brazilian College of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging (CBR). Last year, the two societies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreeing to develop long-term cooperation strategies to increase the sharing of radiological knowledge and practices between Europe and Brazil.
The Best of ECR is an initiative by the ESR to disseminate important radiological updates globally to a wider audience. The initiative is expected to continue its tour across the world in the future. The next stop will be the Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR) Annual Scientific Meeting in Montreal taking place on April 16-19, 2020.
