Friday, October 18, 2019 (ESR, Vienna) – Abstract submission for the next European Congress of Radiology closed on October 15, with a record of 9,085 submitted abstracts. This is the first time in the history of the congress that over 9,000 abstracts have been received, beating last year’s record of 8,788 abstracts.
This year, abstracts were submitted by a hugely diverse, international array of submitters from 104 different countries. This, along with the varied range of different professions which submitters represent, confirms ECR's position as a central event in the radiological calendar and one which continues to attract visitors not only from Europe, but from the entire world.
“I would like to thank everyone who took the time to submit an abstract for next year’s congress. I hope the high volume and diversity of this year’s submissions will help contribute to making the congress one of the most outstanding ECRs to date”, stated ESR President, Prof. Boris Brkljačić from Zagreb, Croatia.
Impressive gains were made in submissions of the topics Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (+49%), Cardiac (+21%), and Chest (+16%).
In addition, there has been a growth in the number of abstracts submitted by Radiographers by 12%, proving that the ECR is truly their meeting too.
