The Brazilian College of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging Annual Meeting (CBR 2019 played host to a brand new initiative by the European Society of Radiology, the Best of ECR. The ‘Best of ECR’ saw ten speakers presenting their outstanding ECR lectures at CBR 2019, which took place from October 10-12.
The programme was made up of a total of six scientific sessions, integrated seamlessly into the main CBR programme. These sessions featured state-of-the-art talks on AI, Chest, MSK, GI/GU and Breast imaging, as well as a range of other topics. The line-up of speakers, which included a number ESR Executive Council members, are all experienced professionals and ECR lecturers with a wealth of radiological knowledge between them, leading to a diverse and informative programme.
ESR Chairman of the Board of Directors, Prof. Lorenzo Derchi, who was one of the Best of ECR speakers, enjoyed taking part in the programme and expressed his gratitude to the Brazilian College of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging (CBR) for hosting what he hopes will be the first of many Best of ECR programmes to come. Seeing the programme as a positive way to promote ECR amongst colleagues from around the world, he expressed a hope that more Brazilians will now consider attending next year’s congress, either onsite or virtually.
The decision to debut the Best of ECR tour in Brazil has further strengthened the growing collaboration efforts between the ESR and the CBR. Last year, the two societies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreeing to develop long-term cooperation strategies to increase the sharing of radiological knowledge and practices between Europe and Brazil.
It is the aim of the Best of ECR initiative to increase the ESRs global presence and cooperation with national societies. Each year, the society will send some of the finest speakers from the European Congress of Radiology to a selected national congress to share their experience with those who were unable to attend ECR in person.
Next year will see the initiative continue its tour around with the world with a stop in North America. Stay tuned for further news on the next Best of ECR programme, which will take place at the Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR) Annual Scientific Meeting in Montreal on April 16-19, 2020.
