The European Congress of Radiology 2020 will bring a first-of-its-kind meeting format to attendees from July 15-19 and is, with thousands of attendees already registered, one of the largest online events in medical imaging. Over the course of five days, the online programme will impress attendees with a live scientific programme featuring over 50 streamed sessions. Some of the most beloved ECR events will be included, from Plenary Lectures and an ESR Meets (message from the presidents) session to Satellite Symposia and Special Focus sessions. With sessions dedicated to radiologists, radiographers and medical physicists, the entire programme will be streamed via ESR Connect and up to 28 CME credits can be collected.
Prof. Brkljačić, who is Chairman of the ESR Board of Directors and ECR 2020 Congress President, stated, ‘I cannot wait to welcome you all to the congress via this exciting and innovative online format. For months, we have been working to adapt all of our congress highlights into an online spectacle and I am looking forward to seeing you all at this one-of-a-kind event’.
ECR all year long
ECR 2020 Online not only takes place in July but also beyond throughout the rest of the year. In addition to the week-long programme, there will be ten ‘Highlight Weeks’ throughout the rest of 2020, with each week exploring a set of carefully chosen topics. These will be freely accessible live and on-demand to all registered attendees. A detailed overview of all Highlight Weeks can be found here.
Additionally, over 1,800 abstract and poster presentations, recorded and uploaded remotely by presenters from across the world will be available to access from July 15 until December 31 for all congress attendees.
Radiographers attending the congress can expect a personalised professional programme taking place on July 17 and 18, with two full-days’ worth of scientific and educational sessions dedicated to radiography.
Spectacular ceremonies and a thrilling quiz
Of course, attendees can also expect an Opening and Closing Ceremony, both of which will be free-of-charge to attend. During the Opening Ceremony, Professor Boris Brkljačić will be inviting attendees to join him on his exploration through the grand forest of radiology, providing his unique insights into scientific programme, the adaptation of the congress into an online format and the current pandemic. The ceremony will include energetic visual effects and outstanding music by Croatian singer and songwriter Lana Janjanin and her band, as well as the Wiener Symphoniker orchestra, and will take place at 18:30 CEST on Wednesday, July 15.
With the special theme of Children in Focus attached to the Closing Ceremony, the finale of the congress is set to be an event with fantastic energy, beautiful music and interesting talks. An additional congress highlight, which will also be free to all, will be the Imaging Interpretation Quiz, a fully interactive radiology quiz, hosted live from Australia by Prof. Paul M. Parizel and taking place at 08:30 (CEST) on Thursday, July 16.
Huge Virtual Exhibition and industry programme
Finally, ECR 2020 Online will also feature a virtual exhibition taking place on July 15-21 which is open to all visitors. The interactive exhibition will host hundreds of companies, providing visitors with the opportunity to visit 216 virtual booths, watch product demonstrations and talk live with company representatives. Through a wide range of satellite symposia and lectures, industry partners will also be discussing the latest issues throughout the congress in the industry programme. They will also be inviting special guests to join them during the talks and congress attendees will have the chance to pose their questions to the professors.
