The European Society of Radiology (ESR) is pleased to re-join the Biomedical Alliance in Europe, becoming the 36th member of the Alliance. The Alliance is a network of leading European medical societies that together include more than 400,000 researchers and health professionals.
Close collaboration in medical research and healthcare is needed to be prepared for the challenges of the future and to keep Europe at the forefront of medical science. The ESR is looking forward to contributing to the various initiatives of the Alliance to promote the advancement of medical excellence and improved patient care in Europe, as well as to strengthening its networking with other medical societies in the field of research, EU health policy and professional issues.
Also, the European Institute for Biomedical Imaging Research (EIBIR) established by the ESR in 2006 with the aim to coordinate collaborative European research in biomedical imaging and support dissemination and community outreach activities, can bring value to the BioMed Alliance through its research management services. EIBIR includes 11 shareholder organisations from various medical disciplines (many of whom are also members of the BioMed Alliance) that collaborate on research and EIBIR has since its establishment helped to secure over € 100 million in research funding for biomedical imaging and related disciplines.
