Notice: Transfers to and from Vienna Airport

Due to major rail construction works and the temporary closure of Vienna’s S-Bahn core line, rail services between Vienna Airport (VIE) and the city centre will be affected from 7 September 2026 to 31 October 2027.

Please allow extra travel time when planning your journey. The following public transport options between Vienna City Centre and Vienna Airport are available:

During the construction period, the City Airport Train (CAT) will operate a premium replacement bus service between Vienna Airport and Wien Mitte/Landstraße Station, with departures every 12–15 minutes throughout the day (up to five buses per hour in each direction). The service provides a direct connection to the city centre with convenient access to metro lines U3 and U4.

Please note that the CAT City Check-In at Wien Mitte/Landstraße will not be available during this period.

ECR 2027 participants can take advantage of a 30% discount on CAT tickets. Information on how to redeem the discount can be found below:

  • ÖBB Railjet and Intercity trains continue to operate twice per hour, providing direct connections to Wien Hauptbahnhof (approx. 15 minutes) and Wien Meidling (approx. 30 minutes).
  • The REX7 Regional Express connects Vienna Airport with Wien Hauptbahnhof in approximately 20 minutes.
  • The S7 suburban railway operates on a shortened route to St. Marx Station, with onward connections by tram, bus, and metro.

The Vienna Airport Bus provides direct connections between Vienna Airport and key destinations across the city.

Routes:

  • Line 1: Vienna Airport – Wien Hauptbahnhof (U1) – Wien Westbahnhof (U3, U6)
  • Line 2: Vienna Airport – Morzinplatz/Schwedenplatz (U1, U4)
  • Line 3: Vienna Airport – Wien Kaisermühlen VIC – Vienna International Centre – Donauzentrum (U1)

From 5 September 2026, an additional service to Wien Praterstern will also be available.
