Introducing Rays of Knowledge
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
It is with great pleasure that I invite you to the European Congress of Radiology 2026 (ECR 2026), held under the inspiring theme ”Rays of Knowledge.” This theme beautifully captures the essence of ECR: a celebration of education at the heart of radiology. It alludes both to the “rays” of radiological imaging and the continuous “rays” of wisdom that illuminate our profession.
Our official congress poster features Athena, the Greek Goddess of knowledge, wisdom, and learning — a powerful symbol of Europe’s deep-rooted tradition in the pursuit of truth and scientific discovery. Another fitting symbol is the owl, emblematic of vision and insight, reflecting the radiologist’s ability to reveal what lies hidden to the ordinary eye. Just as the owl sees clearly through darkness, we in radiology detect what others cannot, sharpening the focus on diagnosis and patient care.
ECR 2026 President
ECR 2026 will offer radiologists, radiographers, physicists, and physicians from all specialties the chance to expand and sharpen their expertise, earn valuable CME credits, and connect with colleagues from around the world. Reflecting current educational trends, ECR 2026 will also be available on-demand via ESR Connect, ensuring that learning is accessible and flexible for all.
The scientific programme will feature a wide range of formats: inspiring plenary sessions, a comprehensive array of didactic courses covering all aspects of clinical radiology, interactive discussions on timely topics, and opportunities to engage in original scientific sessions through oral presentations and electronic posters. Special Focus sessions, In Focus and New Horizons lectures will further enrich the programme, helping to shape the future of radiology in Europe.
My vision for ECR 2026 is to promote excellence in radiology education with an emphasis on innovative, tailored, and interactive teaching methods. We will highlight the core and advanced areas of radiological diagnostics, foster multidisciplinary collaboration, and explore international classification systems, radiologic-pathologic and clinical-radiologic correlations.
We will also address the vital role of radiologists in actionable reporting, participation in tumour boards, and the expanding impact of artificial intelligence on workflow, image analysis, and legal aspects of radiology. Our aim is to prepare both trainees and board-certified radiologists for the evolving challenges of patient-centred, technology-driven healthcare.
In addition to education, technical innovation will be a major highlight. ECR 2026 will explore the latest advancements in diagnostic imaging hardware, software, and image-guided minimally invasive procedures through expert lectures, hands-on courses and a dynamic technical exhibition.
I look forward to welcoming you to a congress full of knowledge, innovation, and collaboration — a true “Ray of Knowledge” shining on the future of radiology.
Warm regards,
Minerva Becker, ECR 2026 Congress President
