Advancing Precision Medicine For Europe’s Cancer Patients With AI-powered Imaging

YOUR VOTE NEEDED – Deadline 21 May 2024
EU Health Policy Platform Thematic Network
Advancing Precision Medicine For Europe’s
Cancer Patients With AI-powered Imaging

The European Commission has initiated a voting poll to inaugurate a new cycle of Thematic Networks under the EU Health Policy Platform. This platform serves as a collaborative online tool facilitating communication among EU Commission services, health-related interest groups, and stakeholders. Within the EU Health Policy Platform, members can engage in various thematic networks, which in turn provide a space to collaborate and develop joint statements on specific health issues.

OUR PROPOSAL

Under the leadership of the European Society of Radiology (ESR), in collaboration with the European Federation for Cancer Images (EUCAIM), a proposal for a new thematic network titled “Advancing Precision Medicine for Europe’s Cancer Patients with AI-powered Imaging” has been submitted for consideration within the public health area of “Unlocking the power of artificial intelligence against cancer”.

The network builds upon the groundwork laid by EUCAIM, aiming to better integrate AI-powered imaging with other diagnostic tools and data with the goal to facilitate the integration of comprehensive diagnostics into clinical practice, thereby contributing to the implementation of Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan, the EU Cancer Mission, and the broader digital health agenda. Additionally, it addresses the implications of the new legislative landscape in digital health, particularly the AI Act and the European Health Data Space (EHDS).

The proposed Thematic Network aims to bring together healthcare stakeholders in exploring the implementation of AI-driven cancer care for European patients. To achieve these objectives, a series of webinars will be organised to introduce the proposal, offer progress reports, and seek joint engagement and cooperation throughout the initiative’s duration. The culmination of this effort will be the presentation of a finalized joint statement by the network leader at the EU Health Policy Platform Annual Meeting in November.

The full proposal of the Thematic Network can be found at the voting page of the Health Policy Platform and can also be accessed here.

As a major stakeholder in the field, we invite you to vote for our proposal and to collaborate with us on exploring the topic if our proposal is accepted for implementation!
