The European Society of Radiology (ESR) and the European Association of Urology (EAU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a multi-year strategic partnership with a focus on scientific cooperation, joint education, and health policy alliance.
This agreement is a significant step in the ESR’s commitment to multidisciplinarity, recognising that radiologists and urologists work in close clinical alignment. As imaging becomes ever more central to diagnostic and therapeutic decisions, the two societies are joining forces to strengthen mutual understanding, promote shared expertise, and contribute jointly to health policy shaping in Europe.
Under the MoU, the ESR and EAU will look to collaborate on various educational and scientific initiatives, such as joint sessions at both societies’ annual meetings, joint courses, webinars and beyond. The partnership also includes coordinated engagement in European health policy initiatives, advocacy, and support for EU-level grant opportunities.
Professor Andrea Rockall, Chair of the ESR Board of Directors, commented: “At the heart of this partnership lies a shared goal: better care for patients. By working with the EAU, we strengthen the clinical bridge between imaging and urological care, helping to ensure that patients receive the most informed and effective treatment possible.”
Professor Arnulf Stenzl, Secretary General of the EAU, stated: “The ESR and EAU have long shared common ground in advancing patient care. This agreement deepens our collaboration and helps us to speak with one voice in Europe’s medical, scientific and policy arenas. It’s a win for professionals and, more importantly, for patients.”
The agreement will run until 2028, offering a long-term foundation for collaborative initiatives in both academic and policy domains.
