ESR Gifts Kudu Statue from ECR 2025 to GE HealthCare: A Symbol of Shared Vision and Innovation

The European Society of Radiology (ESR) has gifted one of its most characteristic statues from ECR 2025—the Kudu—to long-standing partner GE HealthCare. The statue now resides at GE HealthCare’s Pollards Wood site in the UK, standing as a permanent symbol of collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to the future of radiology.

Unveiled at the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) 2025, the Kudu formed part of the congress’s visionary “Planet Radiology” theme. This concept reimagined the congress space as an ecosystem that merged fauna, flora, and human anatomy. The kudu, with antlers shaped like the human bronchial tree, embodied the fusion of nature and medicine, reminding visitors of the connection of planetary and human health.

“The unveiling of Kudu marks a proud moment in our shared history with the European Society of Radiology. This striking statue is more than a work of art—it’s a powerful symbol of the values that unite us: excellence, and enduring partnership,” commented Simon McGuire, President Northern, Eastern and Southeastern Europe, GE HealthCare

“The partnership between ESR and GE HealthCare has always been rooted in trust, innovation, and a deep commitment to advancing patient care and the continued dedication to shaping the future of radiology—together,” said Christian Bernhard, President Western Europe and Francophone Africa, GE HealthCare

“This statue stands as a vibrant reminder of what we can achieve when science, creativity, and collaboration come together. The ESR values the enduring relationship with GE HealthCare—one built on shared purpose and a vision for radiology that benefits both patients and professionals,” said Prof. Andrea Rockall, Chair of the ESR Board of Directors and Past Congress President

This gesture honours a partnership grounded in shared ideals and forward-thinking, echoing the Planet Radiology theme that underscored sustainability, innovation, and global responsibility. ESR and GE HealthCare remain united in their mission to shape a healthier, more connected future—on this planet and beyond.
