Postponement ECR 2020

Dear Congress Participant,
Dear Friend,

ECR 2020 is postponed to July 15–19, 2020 – please mark your calendars!

Please note that this postponement is a fully equivalent replacement for the planned event originally scheduled for March 11–15.

It goes without saying that registration fees for the event as well as for the online services will remain in place for the new congress date. Registration to the ECR 2020 remains open.

After careful evaluation of the spreading corona virus epidemic, and considering the recent statements issued by the WHO and the ECDC, and the related evolving world-wide restrictions and crisis, the ESR was forced to make this decision. Above all, we have analysed the recommendations from the Austrian health authorities for large-scale events and came to the conclusion that we are not in a position to fulfil their requirements and guarantee a safe congress for our participants and industry partners at this time. The safety, health and well-being of our delegates and partners will always be the highest priority for the ESR.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to our participants and industry partners for their understanding, continuous support and flexibility. The majority of our industry partners have already expressed their ongoing commitment and are fully on board for ECR 2020 in July.

Please rest assured that in these turbulent and challenging times, the entire ESR and ECR team are doing their best to respond to any query at the earliest possible time and to make ECR 2020 a spectacular and memorable event for all.

We are already looking forward to welcoming you to Vienna in July!

Yours sincerely,

Boris Brkljačić, ESR President

Hygiene recommendations - Protect yourself and others from getting sick

As good hand hygiene has become increasingly important in light of the recent developments in the field of public health, the European Society of Radiology would like to refer to the hand hygiene guidelines set forth by the World Health Organization (WHO) in an effort to continuously help protect against infection. These recommendations not only refer to COVID-19 and the flu, but also to a variety of infectious diseases.

Please note that attending ECR 2020 is voluntary and your individual choice. If you should feel unwell, the ESR recommends using our online participation options via ESR Connect. Online participation is included in all ECR 2020 tickets.

Hands to heart

Along with maintaining good hand hygiene practices and in acknowledgment of scientific data on the success factors for the reduction of disease transmission, we recommend that participants avoid shaking hands at the congress. Instead, let us greet one another onsite by placing a hand on our chest.

For more information on hand hygiene, see ‘The evidence for clean hands’ by the World Health Organization. Available here

General precautions and hand hygiene

The European Society of Radiology adheres completely to the directives of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer protection and the World Health Organization with regard to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The following precautions are recommended, in accordance with the WHO:

  • Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly with water and soap
  • When sneezing or coughing, cover mouth and nose with a tissue (not your hands!) or sneeze or cough in the crook of your arm; discard tissue immediately into a closed bin and clean your hands
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth
  • Avoid direct contact with sick people
  • If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early

Should you seek medical assistance while on-site, please find the doctor’s office on Level 0 of the Austrian Centre Vienna. A floorplan can be found here.
