Vienna, October 9, 2025 – The European Society of Radiology (ESR) is delighted to announce a record-breaking response to the abstract submission for ECR 2026 – Rays of Knowledge.
With 9,742 abstracts received, the main submission phase has officially closed, marking the highest number ever recorded in ECR history for October submissions – a 14% increase compared to last year’s main submission phase.
This year’s figures already surpass all previous October records, putting ECR 2026 well on track to exceed the all-time total of 9,871 abstracts achieved after the second submission phase in 2025. For the first time in ECR history, the congress is poised to enter the five-digit range in abstract submissions, as momentum continues to build toward setting a new all-time high.
“We are thrilled to see such an outstanding response from the global radiology community, with submissions arriving from 105 countries,” said Professor Minerva Becker, ESR President and ECR 2026 Programme Planning Committee Chairperson. “This remarkable diversity reflects the truly international spirit of ECR and the growing commitment to sharing innovation, collaboration, and scientific excellence in radiology.”
The ESR extends its sincere thanks to all authors and contributors for their enthusiasm and dedication. The submitted abstracts will now undergo review by the ECR Programme Planning Committee, with notifications to authors to follow in the coming weeks.
The Late-Breaking Abstract Submission period will run from December 9, 2025, to January 4, 2026, offering researchers an additional opportunity to share new and significant scientific developments ahead of ECR 2026.
ECR 2026 – Rays of Knowledge will take place in Vienna from March 4–8, 2026, continuing the congress’s tradition as one of the world’s largest and most influential meetings in medical imaging.
