Vienna, Austria – January 23, 2024 – In a display of global enthusiasm for cutting-edge medical research, the European Society of Radiology (ESR)is pleased to announce the closure of its late-breaking abstract submissions for the upcoming ECR 2024. This year has seen an impressive total of 1,129 late-breaking abstracts, bringing the overall number of submissions for ECR 2024 up to 8,729. With an increase of 929 abstracts, marking a 12% growth in submissions compared to last year’s congress, ECR 2024 has become the congress with the strongest submission numbers since ECR 2020.
The late-breaking abstract submission phase ensures that the most up-to-date research will be presented at ECR 2024 and provides a second chance to those whose research projects were not ready during the initial abstract submission period in autumn.
With submissions pouring in from over 80 countries, ECR 2024 continues to be a melting pot of diverse perspectives and ideas in the field of radiology. Particularly notable increases in submission numbers came from India, Spain, and Portugal, whilst the highest number of overall submissions came from India, Italy and the United Kingdom.
Commenting on this remarkable growth, ECR 2024 Congress President Prof. Carlo Catalano, expressed his excitement, stating, “The surge in abstract submissions is a testament to the relentless spirit of innovation within the radiological community. As we embark on the ‘Next Generation Radiology’ journey at ECR 2024, this increase in submissions underscore the collective commitment to pushing boundaries and pioneering advances that will shape the future of our field. I look forward to seeing this incredible research come to life at the congress.”
In eager anticipation of the groundbreaking presentations and discussions that will unfold at ECR 2024, these impressive figures affirm the congress’s central role in fostering collaboration and driving progress in the dynamic field of radiology, whilst also reaffirming ECR’s position as a leading platform for the exchange of groundbreaking ideas and discoveries in radiology.
Submitters of late-breaking abstracts will be contacted within several weeks regarding the status of the submission.
