Vienna, October 24, 2023 – The ECR Escape Room, a resounding success, embarked on a tour this autumn, thrilling participants at two esteemed national congresses. Both the Journées Francophones de Radiologie (JFR) 2023 and the Romanian Congress of Radiology and Imaging (SRIM) 2023 played host to the Escape Room, where participants engaged with complex radiological cases that left them captivated.
Operated by the Young Radiologists organisation from Charité in Berlin, the Escape Room left no room for disappointment. With all slots fully booked and an overwhelming demand necessitating extended opening hours, the Escape Room offered an experience like no other at the congresses.
Teams faced a challenging scenario, assuming the roles of first-year radiology residents during the chaos of their first night shift. A critically injured patient, a victim of a car accident, was rushed in by the trauma team, and the clock was ticking. Their mission? To diagnose the case within a tight timeframe, ensuring the surgical team had the critical information needed for a life-saving operation.
Adrian Brady, ESR Chair of the Board of Directors, enthusiastically noted, “The Escape Room was undoubtedly one of the standout attractions at our own meeting ECR 2023. The overwhelming response and exceptional demand they created prompted us, in collaboration with the Young Radiologists, to explore opportunities for sharing this remarkable congress activity with other prestigious radiology meetings. Through our great relations with the French Society of Radiology (SFR) and the Romanian Society of Medical Imaging (SRIM) we were able to bring the Escape Room to a wider audience. Moreover, this endeavour offers attendees a unique opportunity for team building and participation in these thrilling Escape Rooms, fostering collaboration and camaraderie.”
Due to their overwhelming success, the ECR Escape Room will make a return at ECR 2024, promising another round of complex challenges for radiology enthusiasts.
